What? Humanitarian event, a pink walk, walk against breast cancer

Why? Purpose: psycho-social help and support of the diseased with breast cancer

How much? Event was participated by around 2000people

_ Encouraged by the last year success achieved by NGO Borka together with NGO Integrity AO, and ofcourse with tremendous support by the US Embassy in Skopje, we are continuing this year to walk bravely and proudly on a pathway called "Go Pink".

We published a story on our website as a retrospective for the last year event, and stated that the pink wave is coming and that it should be accepted with a smile and huge brace. Without any prejudices, without doubts and suspicions... Breast cancer presents a real treat and is treatening human lifes, until we do something about it in time. NGO Integrity AO, is an organization whose primary target is education, and hers goal for this year is to raise awareness at people, to take some measures and steps that are important for their health.

One of those steps can be the symbolical pink pathway walked by over 2000people who came out to express their concerns and to give their precious support - moral and financial. Among them, a high representatives of the embassies and macedonian ministries were present. Those were the US Ambassador, Philip T. Reeker with his wife, Solve Reeker, Eurocomessair Ervan Fuere, the ambassadors of Slovenia and Holland, the healthcare minister Buyar Osmani, foreign affairs minister Gordana Jankulovska and Skopje city Mayor Mr Koce Trajanovski.

Biba Dodeva,NGO Borka's CEO, with metaphorical signs held by people on stage, has held a speech to the audience. The signs have shown that any dear person of ours can be one who needs great help and support. So, the symbolical walk with thousands of peoples have started in the City Park , walked pass the building of the Government of Macedonia, crossing the bridge "Goce Delchev" and over the Stone Bridge and returned to the start by walking on the River quay of the Vardar river. Following by the walk there was a concert on which their performances have had people from the macedonian music scene.

So here emerges the goal - to influence people consciousness, to teach them to be responsible for their health and for their lifes. We are aware that people awarenes can't be changed overnight. That's why we are trying to deal, educate, create and fight two years in a row. The importance to raise awareness is not only shown in press conferences and public statements but is shown in the field too - in the massive participation by the people willling to involve themselves.

As part of NGO Integrity AO's activities is the development of volunteerism. This event was a exclusive opportunity to show how much the volunteerism can play a significant role in our life and how much the volunteers can show a tremendous will to take part in events that have huge society responsibility and contribute to develop awareness.

So, for this event around fifty volunteers have served as examples and can suggest youth to involve as much as possible. To participate and be a part of the change, part of the future that will be our future and for which we should fight to be healtier.
